The Parish Pastoral Council initiated the idea of enhancing the church porch so after much deliberation etc. the painting was installed on May 2nd 2017. The painting was the work of Paul Francis, the artist who was responsible for the 1916 Easter Rising in St. Stephen's Green Exhibition, commissioned by the Office of Public Works.
Because the Church is a listed building approval was sought and permission granted by the Conservation Officer, South Dublin Co.Co. and from the Diocesan Commission for Sacred Art and Architecture, Dublin Archdiocese.
The young, the not so young, infants, different nationalities are shown while the houses represent each family in the parish. The Church itself, the Pastoral Centre and the nearby hills are also very much part of Greenhills.
Jesus welcomes us with open arms: "Come to me, all who labour and are overburdened and I will give you rest."
